“Bless America Once Again Financially!” I have heard this prayer in many Christian prayer meetings. Everyone likes to be financially blessed. I like to be financially blessed. But let’s not be blind to the overall picture. America has become an unrighteous nation. That is undeniable.
Souls are at stake. Isaiah 26:9 says, “For when Your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.” I have heard some of the prosperity preachers tell us that America’s finest hour is yet to come. In other words, “Prosper our nation Lord, but damn the lost souls in it.” The heart of the ‘Great Commission’ is saving the lost, not prosperity to send the Gospel out. Scripture reminds us that lost souls are driven to the Lord because of judgments, not prosperity. Jesus’ story of the ‘Prodigal Son’ is a prime example of it.
Instead of praying, “Bless America once again financially!”, we should be praying, “Lord, you are truly the Lord of the Harvest. Please do whatever it takes to send revival to our nation. We pray for a bountiful harvest of souls. Bless us once again spiritually!”
I can imagine what the father of the prodigal son prayed, “Lord, bring my son back to me even if he has to wallow in the mud first.” I prayed that exact prayer for my own son. The Lord did exactly that. Four months before my son’s death at the age of 23, the Lord brought my wayward son home to me. He re-committed his life to the Lord and he died in the arms of Jesus.
We are no longer living in the times of the continuous rise and fall of nations. All we are waiting for now is the Lord’s return. Before Jesus steps foot on Mount Olivet, the Antichrist will take power. Before that, certain nations need to be weakened as the Antichrist sits in the shadows waiting to seize power. It is believed that this is exactly where we are at this moment in time. Because the United States has always stood in the way of the advancement of evil in the world, we must be weakened to the point we will not be able to stand in the way of the Antichrist. We do not necessarily need to be weakened militarily. If our government and economy are weakened, that is enough. All that our country has to experience is a devastating natural disaster or a major terroristic act and it will trigger chaos in our country.
Keep in mind that when God judges nations, He usually gives times of prosperity first before the rug is pulled out from under them. This makes the fall even worse. Beware if God does give America one more time of financial blessing.
The very end of the Bible in Revelation 22:20 says, “Even so, come, Lord Jesus!” Before that in Titus 2:13 it says, “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.” We are reminded in Luke 21:28, “Look up for your redemption draweth nigh.”
