Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.” (John 8:11 NKJV)
I listened to a sermon recently and was surprised to hear the minister preach from John 8 and stop at mid point in verse 11. I keep on thinking as the sermon went on that he would surely read the last half of the verse and preach ‘go and sin no more’. But it never came. I had a sick feeling in my stomach and thought, “Is this what 21st Century preaching come down to in the United States?”
My thoughts continued to fill my head and I could only ponder about how powerless Christianity has come in this country. Yes people came forward to be prayed for. But when they walked out the doors of the church and into the world, did they really know Jesus as The Lord of their life or is He only their Savior of their past sins?
We need a religion preached that will change lives for eternity. We need to preach about a Lord that will not only say to us, “Go and sin no more”, but will empower us to do so!
