And they said to me, “The survivors who are left from the captivity in the province are there in great distress and reproach. The wall of Jerusalem is also broken down, and its gates are burned with fire.” So it was, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned for many days; I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven. (Nehemiah 1:3, 4 NKJV)
We need Nehemiah’s in our day that will look around and hear the report, just like Nehemiah did in his day:
And they said to me, “The survivors who are left since America turned its back on The Lord who formed this nation are here in great distress and reproach. The walls of our Christian heritage are also broken down, and its moral gates are burned with fire.” So it was, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned for many days; I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven.
Nehemiah is one of the best examples in the Bible of an man who would not sway (James 1:6 & Ephesians 4:14) and was a no nonsense individual who was firmly grounded in The Lord. He was a man of action and results.
Now is the time we must step up to the plate and declare, “The gates of hell shall not prevail against the Church (Matthew 16:18).” We need to be a people of integrity and accountability. We need to stand on the Word of God and be known as a people whose prayers have power. Time is running out. As everyday goes by, our moral decay as a nation is having its effects. Souls are dying and going to Hell.
