Exclusivity of the Gospel

What the Bible clearly conveys is total exclusivity of the gospel of Jesus Christ. No ‘beating around the bush’, as the expression goes. That is what Satan then uses to stir the world up to hate the cross and gospel of Jesus Christ of Nazareth so much with twisted statements like:

“How dare anyone claim that Jesus is the only way!”.

“How dare they claim that everyone who does not believe in Jesus and is not born again is going to hell for an eternity of suffering!”

“Christians have no right to spread this message of exclusivity in our diversified world!”

Total exclusivity is made clear in answering these two questions:

1. Is Jesus the only Savior?
2. Is faith in Christ necessary to be saved?

The Bible in the New Testament clearly answers ‘yes’ to these two questions and commands every Christian to spread this gospel to the ends of the earth even though they face persecution and death:

Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot seep the Kingdom of God.” So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.’ And as Moses lifted up the bronze snake on a pole in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him will have eternal life. “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. “There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son. And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. (John 3:3, 7, 14-19 NLT)

Let me clearly state to all of you and to all the people of Israel that this lame man was healed by the powerful name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, the man you crucified but whom God raised from the dead. For Jesus is the one referred to in the Scriptures, where it says, ‘The stone that you builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.’ There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:10-12 NLT)

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. (Romans 10:9, 10 NLT)

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. “Then the King will turn to those on the left and say, ‘Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons. (Matthew 25:34, 41 NLT)

Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20 NLT)

The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God. (1 Corinthians 1:18 NLT)

The reason for this exclusivity is that it is the only ‘real thing’. It is the only real truth. Everything else is a sugar coated lie. The gospel of Jesus Christ is the greatest love story ever told. Our Creator humbled Himself to die a horrible death on the cross for our sins so that we may have eternal life with Him in heaven. It is only those who choose not to accept it who have condemned themselves to hell.

The universe our Lord created is held together by precision and not chaos. If two people build a house, one cannot use a tape measure with one set of increments, and the other uses another tape measure where the increments do not match. The results would be disastrous. It is the same when seeking the truth. Only Jesus is the real tape measure. Only Jesus is the real truth!

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. (John 14:6 NLT)

I will leave you with this story:
I did a lot of fishing with my favorite fish creel. It had measurement marks on the front of the bag to ensure you caught and kept only legal sized fish. One day I found out that the bag had gradually shrunk over time and it did not measure up. If I had been stopped by a fish warden and unknowingly had any undersized fish in possession, no amount of pleading my case would of kept me from getting a heavy fine.

One day we will all stand before the Lord of all fish wardens, Jesus Christ. Do you really measure up or do you only think you measure up?
