As the world watched the media driven feeding frenzy unfold over the past couple of months on what happened in Missouri, I felt the Holy Spirit whisper to me over and over again, “It all comes down to ‘truth’. People no longer want the truth.”
The Lord Himself taught us, “Blessed are the peacemakers”. Instead of watching men who go by the titles of Reverend, Attorney General, and President trying to unify and bring peace to a divided area – they did nothing but cause a deeper chasm that now has spread across this whole nation. When the President ran for office, he stated that he would unify this nation. His slogan was, ‘Unite for Change’. He promised to unite races and political parties. This was the platform that allowed him to win the election. Instead, six years later, we have a more divided nation and government than before.
Let me explain how what I just stated above has to do with truth. The truth of what happened on the streets of Ferguson, Missouri on that fateful day of August 9th 2014 was finally released on November 24th 2014. It all came down to a criminal issue and not a racial issue. A man ended up dead because of a disrespect for the law. The Word of God is clear on this matter:
“Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. So anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished. For the authorities do not strike fear in people who are doing right, but in those who are doing wrong. Would you like to live without fear of the authorities? Do what is right, and they will honor you. The authorities are God’s servants, sent for your good. But if you are doing wrong, of course you should be afraid, for they have the power to punish you. They are God’s servants, sent for the very purpose of punishing those who do what is wrong. So you must submit to them, not only to avoid punishment, but also to keep a clear conscience.” (Romans 13:1-5 NLT)
Now to come back to what the Holy Spirit whispered to me about ‘truth’. When the truth of the verdict came out, people did not want to hear the real truth. They began rioting, burning and looting right away because there were no peacemakers to try and bridge the gap. Our leaders failed miserably. Barack Obama, Eric Holder and Al Sharpton failed miserably or should I say that they were extremely successful in causing an even deeper racial divide in this nation. Not only that, but police officers have been demonized and betrayed by everyone from the president on down. What we have not heard is that you cannot break the law. What we have not heard is that you cannot resist arrest. Furthermore, our leaders also deliberately failed to protect the innocent shop owners who lost their businesses. This in itself is a crime committed by the highest offices in this land.
Please watch the following video made by a man who goes by the name of TruthStartsNow2 on YouTube. Barack Obama, Eric Holder and Al Sharpton could learn a tremendous amount from him. Whether people like what he says and the words he chooses or not, he is spot on with the message he has to bring:
Now there is a witch hunt going on against the Ferguson police department to uncover any racial injustice. Not to make an excuse, but there are certain things within the hearts of men that will never be erased by any legislation. You may try to legislate against it in order to try and suppress it, but only faith in Jesus Christ can help remove it from the hearts of men. It’s a heart issue, not something you can legislate away. Look at these verses I touched upon earlier:
“God blesses those who work for peace (‘the peacemakers’ KJV), for they will be called the children of God. God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.” (Matthew 5:9-10 NLT)
Verse 10 teaches us that God makes provisions for injustices. He will bless those who suffer from injustice as long as they don’t take it into their own hands.
But now to finish with the truth issue.
George Orwell said, “The further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those who speak it.”
I can’t help being drawn to these two portions of Scripture which tell us of the only ‘truth’ and true remedy in life:
Then Jesus said, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:31-32 NKJV)
“If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.” (John 14:15-18 NKJV)
Our Lord and Savior is the only true truth. Only in Him can one find completeness and real peace.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6 NKJV)
Peter perfectly describes truth in these last days:
“Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (2 Timothy 3:7 KJV)
