People often wonder what is the purpose of the Millennium, or thousand year reign of Christ that will take place on this earth (Revelation 20:1-6). The main purpose is that Jesus Christ the LORD will demonstrate what reigning with true godly justice is all about. But for now, the closer and closer we come to the fulfillment of the End-Time’s prophecies, the more injustices we will see in the world around us.
Whether someone is crying out for justice for themself or for justice concerning others, the cry is getting louder and louder. America once stood for justice, but now we see politicians, the very ones who are supposed to represent justice, who are the most guilty of injustice, even criminal acts. Our government fails to prosecute these guilty ones. They are guilty of massive coverups and collusion. Integrity is a word from the past and there is no more shame or blushing. The guilty will not resign. They and their supporters call evil “good” and good “evil”. (Isaiah 5:20-21)
So how are we to react as Christians? We know that the LORD sees every unjust act. We know that justice is not always meted out in this life. But we are to rest assured that righteousness and justice will be carried out at the judgment seat of Christ (Revelation 20:11-15). Not one unconfessed act will be overlooked. We must always keep in mind that vengeance is the LORD’s (Romans 12:19) and that we are to love our enemies (Matthew 5:44). God will take care of the rest. As a matter of fact, we are instructed to look up when we see the world coming apart around us (Luke 21:28).
I have included a well rounded group of verses that looks into justice and what God wants us to know concerning it:
Justice, and only justice, you shall follow, that you may live and inherit the land that the Lord your God is giving you.(Deuteronomy 16:20 ESV)
For I the Lord love justice; I hate robbery and wrong. (Isaiah 61:8a ESV)
“This is what the Lord Almighty said: ‘Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. (Zechariah 7:9 NIV)
Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow. (Isaiah 1:17a NIV)
Blessed are those who act justly, who always do what is right. (Psalm 106:3 NIV)
Do not pervert justice; do not show partiality to the poor or favoritism to the great, but judge your neighbor fairly. (Leviticus 19:15 NIV)
The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love. (Psalm 33:5 NIV)
The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy. (Proverbs 12:22 NIV)
Acquitting the guilty and condemning the innocent— the Lord detests them both. (Proverbs 17:15 NIV)
From the least to the greatest, all are greedy for gain; prophets and priests alike, all practice deceit. They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious. “Peace, peace,” they say, when there is no peace. Are they ashamed of their detestable conduct? No, they have no shame at all; they do not even know how to blush. So they will fall among the fallen; they will be brought down when they are punished, says the Lord. (Jeremiah 8:10-12 NIV)
He that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him: But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them. (Proverbs 24:24-25 KJV)
It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity. (Proverbs 21:15 KJV)
Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the Lord understand all things. (Proverbs 28:5 KJV)
He (Jesus) said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected man. And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’ For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor respect man, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.'” (Luke 18:2-5 ESV)
And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? (Revelation 6:10 KJV)
