Groaning For Heaven

How is your world going? Do you do everything you can to hold onto this life? Do you dread getting older knowing that as each day goes by you are getting closer and closer to your funeral service? Are you fearful of death? Or do you have a longing, a yearning, a deep groaning inside that you can’t wait for the afterlife? My friend, if you find yourself being able to identify with the first group of questions, I suggest that you re-examine your relationship with the LORD Jesus Christ.

I love the way the Apostle Paul expresses it:

“For to me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better. But if I live, I can do more fruitful work for Christ. So I really don’t know which is better. I’m torn between two desires: I long to go and be with Christ, which would be far better for me. But for your sakes, it is better that I continue to live.” (Philippians 1:21-24 NLT)

Paul further puts it into perspective with the following:

“What we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later. For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really are. Against its will, all creation was subjected to God’s curse. But with eager hope, the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay. For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us. We were given this hope when we were saved.” (Romans 8:18-24 NLT)

How about you? Do you find yourself being able to fully relate to the following song:

I’m not Home Yet.M4A

The following MP3 is a teaching from Dr. David Jeremiah that is the best I ever heard that describes that groaning that I have deep inside my spirit:

Heaven Won’t Be Boring.MP3

If you do not have that groaning, I beg of you to fully commit your life to the LORD Jesus Christ. I do not need to remind you that while we are here for the short time on this earth, it is full of shortcomings and lack of total fulfillment, no matter who we are. No one, once plunged into it, wants to spend an eternity in misery and loneliness. But you can look forward to an eternity that is exciting beyond your wildest dreams, if only you take that step and let Jesus wash your sins away and be the LORD of your life and eternity!
