When I was growing up in the early 1960’s I never believed in Santa Claus or any of the make believe things. I guess the LORD was already working with me when I was very young in having a sense of what truth really was. But that did not stop me from the enjoyment of watching cartoons, the three stooges, and animated fairy tales. My favorite to this very day is the part of Rudolph, where the Misfit Toys are. The first video below is about the Island of Misfit Toys and the second video is about their rescue:
The reason these video excerpts are some of my favorites is because in real life, Jesus comes to rescue and save the Misfits:
“For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” (Luke 19:10 NKJV)
And this is what happens when He does:
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV)
“I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10 KJV)
If you feel like a Misfit, I am here to bring good news and tell you that all that Misfits have to do is reach out to Jesus for His love and for the forgiveness of their sins. If you carefully listen to the Misfit Toys in the videos above, all they wanted was to be loved, because they knew once they were loved that nothing could separate them from that love:
“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39 NKJV)
Another children’s story I am absolutely touched by is ‘Velveteen Rabbit’. It reminds me of the verse that many believe is the most precious verse in the Bible:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16 NKJV)
Enjoy the story of ‘Velveteen Rabbit’ in the video below. You will hear how ‘Velveteen’ goes from being a sawdust filled toy, to a real toy, and finally to a real rabbit. It will remind you of how Jesus takes us from a life of being dead to sin and gives us not only abundant life in this world, but everlasting life in the world to come:
I thank God that I can still enjoy childlike stories like these even at 60 some years of age.
Jesus said, “Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 18:3 KJV)
