From what I can see, even though I am a devout Christian, I am also a pretty normal human being. And even though I am loved by my wife, my family, and by those around me, I still have this deep seated need inside to feel love from my Creator. You can say I need a ‘Heavenly Hug’.
During these times I become overwhelmed and literally speak out the Words of God to me, “I love you!” as delivered by the Holy Spirit. Then when I turn to the written Word of God, it becomes even more real through reinforcement:
Because you are precious in My eyes, and honored, and I love you. (Isaiah 43:4a ESV)
The reason I say all this is that I know that I am not the only one out there that feels this way. This goes for whether it be a Christian or someone who is not. Everyone feels a deep-seated need to feel loved and have it reinforced. Even though people love you, there will be times that this love feels so far away and nothing on this earth will seem to be able to quench that need. No drug, no alcohol, no endeavor will be able to scratch its surface. That is why I just want to list these following verses that I am sure you are already familiar with. But when they are in front of your face in simplicity, they become even more precious and real and will quench that need when seized upon:
But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8 ESV)
By this we know love, that He laid down His life for us. (1 John 3:16a ESV)
Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent His only Son into the world, so that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. (1 John 4:8-10 ESV)
For God so loved the world, that He gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. (John 3:16-18 ESV)
For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39 ESV)
So there you have it—>You Are Loved! “Why?” you ask—–>Just Because!
Now go and embrace it, then live it by sharing that love!
