“How terrible it would be to face a world of viruses, elections, injustices, persecutions, rioters, and untold suffering without the assurance that God is in control of all things and has a purpose in permitting them.” (Dustin Benge)
With so many voices in the world and so many opposing Bible interpretations, we need to be in a constant state of seeking TRUTH, even if it is in opposition to our views, preferences, desires, or popular opinions. We must always be seeking God’s intent, rather than man’s interpretation:
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” (John 14:6a NKJV)
“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32 NKJV)
Throughout my years of being a true believer, I have heard many statements from people that have caused me to shudder. When the WTC Towers went down, there was the question, “Where was God in this act of horror? If He was really a God of love, He would not of allowed this tragedy to have happened.” Or, because I was born after WWII and the horrors of it were then revealed, I often heard, “Where was God in Nazi Germany? If He was really a God of love, He would not of allowed Hitler to rise to power and the Holocaust to have happened.”
We will not even begin to understand the answers to these accusations against God until we accept the truth that we are not to be of this world and it is only a stepping stone to eternal life:
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:2 NKJV)
Very seldom do you hear these verses preached upon in truth:
Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow Me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for My sake, you will save it.” (Matthew 16:24-25 NLT)
“If the world hates you, remember that it hated Me first. The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you. Do you remember what I told you? ‘A slave is not greater than the master.’ Since they persecuted Me, naturally they will persecute you. And if they had listened to Me, they would listen to you.” (John 15:18-20 NLT)
So many forget that because God is love, redemption of lost souls is at the top of God’s list:
Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:18-19 NLT)
It is a shame that us humans rarely come to God in the good times. We think we do not need God, because good times tend to make us our own god. It is only when the devil and his destruction is unleashed, that many will turn to God and find Him as the only true God.
Have no doubt about it, God is in complete control. Not a sparrow falls to the ground without Him noticing it. Nations, kings, governments, and yes, the devil himself along with the demonic world are under God’s sovereignty:
He builds up nations, and He destroys them. He expands nations, and He abandons them. He strips kings of understanding and leaves them wandering in a pathless wasteland. (Job 12:23-24 NLT)
“All right, do with him (Job) as you please,” the Lord said to Satan. “But spare his life.” So Satan left the Lord’s presence, and he struck Job with terrible boils from head to foot. (Job 2:6-7 NLT)
Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. (Romans 13:1 ESV)
Keep this very important fact in perspective, that the only exception for civil disobedience is as follows:
But Peter and the apostles replied, “We must obey God rather than any human authority. (Acts 5:29 NLT)
