Know Your Enemy

Jesus said this in Luke:

“Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?” (Luke 14:31 NKJV)

The Bible tells us very clearly that our adversary is Satan, aka the Devil, and we must study and know his ways:

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. (1 Peter 5:8 NKJV)

Remember, Satan does not misquote Scripture. Satan misapplies Scripture and instills doubt in Scripture.

We are living in the end of times as we know it. Satan also knows his time is very short. The Antichrist is alive and well and is sitting in the shadows waiting to be revealed when the Tribulation period begins. At the midway point of the Tribulation period when the Antichrist is unmasked, the following takes place and all hell breaks loose on earth:

And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. (Revelation 12:7‭-‬9‭, ‬17 NKJV)

I have gathered articles, and sub-artices within them, that can help us understand our enemy for the time we live in:

Lucifer Satan the Devil demons and devils

Satan’s Access to Heaven

Satan Fell Like Lightning

Revelation 12

The reason I compiled this article was because of a comment that arose in one of our home Bible studies. The individual was afraid to pray out loud for fear that the demons may hear the prayer and use it against them. We assured them that they have nothing to fear when they put on the whole armor of God:

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints. (Ephesians 6:10‭-‬18 NKJV)

Paul sums it up very clearly in the next two verses of the above Scripture that we are never to be afraid of speaking out loud and worrying that the Devil and demons may hear:

And for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. (Ephesians 6:19-‬20 NKJV)
