What is the price of two sparrows—one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. (Matthew 10:29 NLT)
Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? (Matthew 6:26 NLT)
Everyday I scan the headlines of the news just to keep in touch with the reality around me. It seems that the news, more and more, is filled with nothing but turmoil.
I live on a small farm with woods that contain about a half mile of trails. I love to hike the trails especially in the springtime. I went walking yesterday next to a thicket filled with sparrows and their young families. They were singing and chirping to their heart’s content, totally unaware of the problems in the world. This woke me up to the two portions of Scripture I began this article with. This is where I had to examine myself. Am I allowing myself to be affected by what is going on in the world or am I living a victorious life spiritually knowing that my Father in heaven has me in the palm of His hand even though the world is coming apart around me?
Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10 NKJV)
See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands. (Isaiah 49:16a NKJV)
Now my question to you is, “Are you looking up?”
Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near. (Luke 21:28 NKJV)
