Thorns and Thrones

We are rocketing towards a new world order and setting the stage for the Antichrist. This is all in God’s plan. This should be of no great surprise to us because it is quite clear on how this will take place in Scripture. But what I am aghast at is how people who call themselves Christian have allowed their minds to be remolded.

Recently I saw a re-post by a young woman whom I watched grow up in a strong Christian environment. The post originally came out of a Baptist group who declares that the United States of America has never been a Christian nation and this land must be recognized as still being owned by the American Indians.

I don’t want to tell you my feelings about this, but would rather turn to historical documents and Scripture to try and reveal what was God’s part in all of our history.

First let’s look at a few Scriptures to see who is really in charge of nations and their destiny:

For by Him (The Lord Jesus Christ) all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. (Colossians 1:16 NKJV)

For no one on earth—from east or west, or even from the wilderness— should raise a defiant fist. It is God alone who judges; he decides who will rise and who will fall. (Psalms 75:6-7 NLT)

While the word was still in the king’s mouth, a voice fell from heaven: “King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: the kingdom has departed from you! And they shall drive you from men, and your dwelling shall  be with the beasts of the field. They shall make you eat grass like oxen; and seven times shall pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He chooses.” (Daniel 4:31-32 NKJV)

And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him. (Acts 17:26-27a NKJV)

Now that it has been established that God alone is in charge of nations rising and falling, let’s look at the following portions of Scripture and see how the land of Israel became the Promised Land to the Jews, which paved the way for America to become a blessed land for the Christians who became grafted in. That then allowed America, because of its freedom, prosperity, and it’s firmly established Christian roots, to send missionaries and translated bibles throughout the world in fulfillment of the Great Commission:

“Give the following instructions to the people of Israel: When you cross the Jordan River into the land of Canaan, you must drive out all the people living there. You must destroy all their carved and molten images and demolish all their pagan shrines. Take possession of the land and settle in it, because I have given it to you to occupy. But if you fail to drive out the people who live in the land, those who remain will be like splinters in your eyes and thorns in your sides. They will harass you in the land where you live. And I will do to you what I had planned to do to them.” (Numbers 33:51-53, 55-56 NLT)

“But some of these branches from Abraham’s tree—some of the people of Israel—have been broken off. And you Gentiles, who were branches from a wild olive tree, have been grafted in. So now you also receive the blessing God has promised Abraham and his children, sharing in the rich nourishment from the root of God’s special olive tree.” (Romans 11:17 NLT)

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. (Matthew 28:18-20 NKJV)

If you still have any doubts about America being a Christian nation established by God, let’s look at the first significant document of America signed by 41 men known as the Mayflower Compact. It is the first written framework of government established in America:

“In the name of God, Amen. We whose names are under-written, the loyal subjects of our dread sovereign Lord, King James, by the grace of God, of Great Britain, France, and Ireland King, Defender of the Faith, etc.
Having undertaken, for the glory of God, and advancement of the Christian faith, and honor of our King and Country, a voyage to plant the first colony in the northern parts of Virginia, do by these presents solemnly and mutually, in the presence of God, and one of another, covenant and combine our selves together into a civil body politic, for our better ordering and preservation and furtherance of the ends aforesaid; and by virtue hereof to enact, constitute, and frame such just and equal laws, ordinances, acts, constitutions and offices, from time to time, as shall be thought most meet and convenient for the general good of the Colony, unto which we promise all due submission and obedience. In witness whereof we have hereunder subscribed our names at Cape Cod, the eleventh of November [New Style, November 21], in the year of the reign of our sovereign lord, King James, of England, France, and Ireland, the eighteenth, and of Scotland the fifty-fourth. Anno Dom. 1620.”

Notice the words: “for the glory of God, and advancement of the Christian faith”

We now have many thorns in this great nation of America that seek to totally destroy our Christian heritage and totally wipe out The Lord God of Israel from our vocabulary. It is a repeat of the thorns that Israel was warned of back in Numbers 33:55.

Oh Lord forgive us and help us. Send one more revival. Send a last Great Awakening!
