Jesus At The Center Of It All

“In every heart there is a throne and a cross: if self is on the throne, Jesus must be on the cross; if Jesus is on the throne, self must be on the cross.” (Tozer)

The entire Old Testament, from beginning to end, points toward the coming of the Messiah, the LORD Jesus Christ. Most every page in the New Testament mentions His mighty name. The Apostle Paul made it very clear that Jesus Christ Is the Center Of It All:

Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through Him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see— such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through Him and for Him. He existed before anything else, and He holds all creation together. Christ is also the head of the church, which is His body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So He is first in everything. For God in all His fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through Him God reconciled everything to Himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross. (Colossians 1:15‭-‬20 NLT)

The Acts of the Apostles lets us know that there is absolutely no other way outside of Jesus. Jesus is truly the only Way:

“For Jesus is the one referred to in the Scriptures, where it says, ‘The stone that you builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.’ There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:11‭-‬12 NLT)

A physical compass consists of a pointer driven by a magnet. A spiritual compass consists of a faith driven by godly fear:

And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to Him must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who sincerely seek him. (Hebrews 11:6 NLT)

Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. (Philippians 2:12b NLT)

When Jesus is on the throne of your life, you will follow His leading just like a ship on the open seas follows the heading set forth by the compass needle.

So what is it? Is Jesus really the Center Of Your Life, or do you only pass the controls to Him once in a while when you get tossed about in the sea of life? Jesus demands 100% of our life, 100% of the time. This is the only kind of faith that will please Him:

And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or property, for My sake, will receive a hundred times as much in return and will inherit eternal life. (Matthew 19:29 NLT)

“If you want to be My disciple, you must, by comparison, hate everyone else—your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be My disciple. And if you do not carry your own cross and follow Me, you cannot be My disciple. (Luke 14:26‭-‬27 NLT)

Our eternal destiny hinges on one simple choice. As long as we can still breathe, the choice is ours to make. We either fully make Him Lord and bow at His throne in our life now, or we will be forced to bow before Him when it is too late and the choice that brings eternal life is no longer there for us to make:

Christ Jesus had equal status with God but didn’t think so much of Himself that He had to cling to the advantages of that status no matter what. Not at all. When the time came, He set aside the privileges of deity and took on the status of a slave, became human! Having become human, He stayed human. It was an incredibly humbling process. He didn’t claim special privileges. Instead, He lived a selfless, obedient life and then died a selfless, obedient death—and the worst kind of death at that—a crucifixion. Because of that obedience, God lifted Him high and honored Him far beyond anyone or anything, ever, so that all created beings in heaven and on earth—even those long ago dead and buried—will bow in worship before this Jesus Christ, and call out in praise that He is the Master of all, to the glorious honor of God the Father. (Philippians 2:6-‬11 MSG)
