Not ‘Of Mice and Men’

By human nature, we love to be in control and always prepared for the worst. Just look at any grocery store when a snow storm is predicted. Fear will drive average citizens to fight over the last loaf of bread on the shelf.

In Luke 12:11-12, Jesus reminds His followers that we are to conduct ourselves differently than the world. Jesus said, “Now when they bring you to the synagogues and magistrates and authorities, do not worry about how or what you should answer, or what you should say. For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.” Yes we are to study to show ourselves approved as we are told in 2 Timothy 2:15. But, we are never to close the door to the Holy Spirit to speak to us or to prompt us, especially at the last second. This means, no matter how uncomfortable it may be in a situation, that if the Holy Spirit whispers to us, we need to drop what we were going to say or do, and follow the words we are given. This is the heart of being a spirit controlled Christian. This should be our way of life, even when things seem mundane. We are assured in James 4:8 that if we draw nigh to God, He will draw nigh to us. Oh Christian, is this the norm in your life?
